Last week, Fort Hunt High School alums traveled to the TODAY show studio in New York City, and today the TODAY show came to Fort Belvoir.

Between 2,500 and 4,000 service members and their families, retirees, DoD civilians, contractors, community volunteers and vendors attended Fort Belvoir’s Mission: Breakfast event at Pullen Field this morning.

Sponsored by the J.M. Smucker Company as an installation-wide grand prize for winning a commissary display contest, the event featured a massive pancake breakfast, musical entertainment, vendors offering free products, an appearance by the Pillsbury Dough Boy, military equipment displays; and children’s activities like a bounce house.

One of the highlights of the morning was a live broadcast by TODAY Show host and weatherman Al Roker who predicted warm sunny weather for the Washington, D.C. area, helped make pancakes and took selfies with attendees.

Members of the Smucker family attended the event and presented awards to various individuals and the installation itself.
