Man stabbed to death in Woodlawn area, niece in custody
A man has died from injuries suffered after his niece allegedly stabbed him this morning in the Woodlawn area, according to the Fairfax County Police.
Courtney Southern, 38, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries around 11 a.m. after being stabbed in the upper body in a home in the 8000 block of Steadman Street (see map). The police announced at 1 p.m. that he had died.
Chardnay Southern, who police say is Courtney Southern’s niece, has been taken into police custody, the FCPD announced this afternoon. Both the victim and the suspect lived together with other family members in the house, police said. Specific charges against Chardnay Southern have been announced yet.
The incident marks the second homicide in the Richmond Highway area in 2018; 16-year-old Jholie Moussa was found murdered in Woodlawn Park in January. No arrests have been made in that case.
