A group of Fort Hunt High School alumni made the trek to New York City on Friday to visit the school’s most famous graduate, TODAY show co-host Hoda Kotb.
The Fort Hunt group, braving the rain and standing in front of a Fort Hunt Alumni Association sign, was interviewed by co-host Savannah Guthrie on the TODAY plaza. They even had a yearbook from Kotb’s senior year, and showed a picture of Kotb as homecoming queen.
Kotb graduated from Fort Hunt in 1982. She became full-time co-host of the Today Show in January, replacing Matt Lauer.
Fort Hunt closed in 1985 due to declining enrollments in the area, merging with Groveton High School to form West Potomac High School. Carl Sandburg Middle School now occupies the former Fort Hunt building.
