Pet dies in Saturday morning house fire in Rose Hill area
A fire Saturday morning damaged a home and killed a pet in the Rose Hill area, according to the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department.
Firefighters from Fairfax and the City of Alexandria were dispatched to the 6100 block of Squire Lane (see map) around 9:45 a.m., Deputy Fire Chief William Garrett said in a video posted on Twitter.
Smoke was visible from the rear of the house when crews arrived, and the fire was located in the basement of the split-level home, Garrett said.
The blaze was quickly extinguished, and the deceased pet was found during a search of the house, Garrett said. No residents or firefighters were injured.
The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
