The entire George Washington Parkway from the Mount Vernon estate to Old Town will be closed Sunday morning for the annual Parkway Classic race.
The first group of runners will begin the 10-mile race at Mount Vernon at 7 a.m. After three groups of early starters leave, the main group of runners will begin at 8 a.m.
There is also a 5K race that begins at 8 a.m. at Belle Haven Park.
The parkway will begin reopening as runners clear the course, and one of the race’s organizers told WTOP.com that the entire road should be open by 11 a.m. There is no information about the road closure on the Park Service website.
The full race course can be viewed below (click to enlarge).
