There were no injuries in a two-alarm fire that sent flames through the roof of a large house near the George Washington Memorial Parkway this morning, according to the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 1900 block of Mallinson Way in the Fort Hunt area shortly before 8 a.m. Images shared by WTOP showed flames and heavy smoke coming from the house, which is visible from the GW Parkway.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue tweeted shortly after 10 a.m. that the fire was out.

Fairfax County property records indicate that the five-bedroom home was built in 1935. Its assessed value is nearly $2 million.

No cause for the fire has been announced yet, and it’s unclear the extent of the damage.
