Belle View garden apartment building catches fire
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that broke out Monday afternoon in a garden apartment building in the Belle View area.
Fairfax Fire and Rescue, including trucks from the Penn Daw and Woodlawn fire stations, and units from the City of Alexandria Fire Department responded to the call around 1:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Belle View Boulevard.
A Fairfax Fire and Rescue spokesman said that upon arriving, fire was visible from the roof line of the three-story building, which is located behind a bank and across the street from the Belle View Shopping Center. Pictures and video shared on social media showed flames and a large amount of smoke coming from the attic area of the structure.
No injuries were reported, according to Deputy Fire Chief William Garrett.
