Man dies in early morning crash on Telegraph Road

The crash occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Telegraph Road and Split Rock Road.

A 23-year-old man died early Sunday morning in a one-vehicle crash on Telegraph Road near Lee District Park. 

Police say Walther Rubio Valladarez was traveling southbound in the 6700 block of Telegraph Road (see map) when he lost control of his Honda Civic and struck a tree. Rubio Valldarez, a resident of Fredericksburg, was pronounced dead on the scene.

No other occupants were in the car, police said. Crash reconstruction investigators are trying to determined if speed was a factor in the crash.

Telegraph Road was closed for a number of hours in both directions after the crash, which happened around 1 a.m.
