Police blotter: Pizza delivery man robbed by group of men
For the second time in three days, a pizza delivery man was robbed in the Hybla Valley area, according to today’s Fairfax County Police blotter.
On Monday around 7 p.m. the delivery man was approached by six or seven men in the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue (see map), police said. One of the man grabbed the driver and held him while the others went through his pockets and took the driver’s cash and some “personal items,” according to police.
The driver was not injured, police said. The only description of the suspects was that they were between 18-22 years old.
On Saturday a pizza delivery driver was held up by a man with a knife on El Camino Place (see map), just a few blocks from Monday’s incident. That delivery man was also uninjured.
At least seven pizza delivery men have been robbed or targeted for robbery in the Route 1 area since July 2016.
Other incidents from the Mount Vernon police district reported in today’s blotter:
Larceny: 8200 block of Clifton Farm Court, ring from residence
Larceny: 7200 block of Fairchild Drive, amplifier from vehicle
Larceny: 3000 block of Furman Lane, amplifier from vehicle
Larceny: 3300 block of Lockheed Boulevard, stereo from vehicle
Larceny: 2600 block of Ryegate Lane, purse from business
Stolen vehicle: 8400 block of Madge Lane, 2016 Toyota Sienna
This is ridiculous! There needs to be more protection for these drivers, or just stop offering delivery to that area! Police presence in the evening would also offset that. Do a sting, something. People shouldn’t be terrorized while doing their jobs.
