A man died earlier today after being electrocuted while working on an apartment complex not far from the Huntington Metro.

Ervin Marenco Andasol, 36, was taken to a local hospital after the incident and pronounced dead there, according to police. Marenco Andasol, who was painting the apartment complex,  was moving a metal ladder from one side of a building to another when it made contact with a “high voltage power line,” police said.

Marenco Andasol, a resident of Alexandria, was a contractor who was working at the Huntington Gardens apartments. The apartments are located in the 2800 block of Fairhaven Avenue in the Jefferson Manor neighborhood.

The police’s Crime Scene Unit and Major Crimes Bureau, as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), are investigating the incident, police said.
