Weekend police blotter: Man attempts to rob 68-year-old woman at laundromat

Two robberies were reported in the Richmond Highway area over the weekend, including one that involved a 68-year-old victim and a 61-year-old suspect, according to Monday’s police blotter.

The robbery involving the 68-year-old victim happened at the 24-hour Forest Laundromat at 7500 Richmond Highway. Police say that the woman was leaving the laundromat at 3:50 a.m. on Saturday when a man attempted to grab her bag away from her. Police say that the bag ripped during the struggle, and that the man ended up walking away empty-handed.

George Redmond, 68, was arrested shortly afterward and charged with attempted robbery.

The other robbery took place Friday night around 11 p.m. in an unamed business in the 6300 block of South Kings Highway.
