Hybla Valley house fire displaces 5 residents
Five people were displaced but no residents were injured after a house fire Saturday night in the Hybla Valley area.
The fire broke out in a single-family home in the 3400 block of Beechcraft Drive. A neighbor called 911 and reported the fire shortly before 11 p.m., according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. No residents were home at the time of the blaze.
According to the fire department, the fire began after unattended charcoal ignited a deck in the rear of the house. The fire had spread into the single-story home by the time firefighters arrived.
Two firefighters were treated for injuries described as minor.
The fire department said there were no working smoke alarms in the house.
Damage is estimated to be around $278,537; residents of the house are being assisted by the Red Cross.
