Richmond Highway Aldi to undergo renovation, will stay open

Aldi is located at 8256 Richmond Highway.

The Richmond Highway Aldi will undergo a renovation later this year, part of the grocery chain’s plan to remodel and expand more than 1,300 U.S. stores in the next few years.

Unlike some other Aldis in Northern Virginia, the Richmond Highway location will not close while work is being done, according to Jeff Baehr, ALDI Frederick Division Vice President. Baehr did not say when the renovation will start, but work is expected to be done before the end of the year.

The Richmond Highway location is one of 30 Aldis in the Washington D.C. area that will be remodeled, Baehr said. It’s all part of a $1.6 billion nationwide effort the company announced earlier this year. The store improvements are aimed at meeting “customers’ desire for a modern and convenient shopping experience with a focus on fresh items, including more robust produce, dairy and bakery sections.”

A number of Aldis in the area already have the new look, including stores in the city of Alexandria, Chantilly, Fairfax, Fredericksburg and Manassas.
