ZIPS Dry Cleaners, laundromat coming to Sacramento Center

Laundromat site

A laundromat is under construction in this space at the Sacramento Center, while a ZIPS will be moving in on the other side of the shopping center.

A ZIPS Dry Cleaners is coming to the southern end of the Richmond Highway corridor.

A new franchise of the dry cleaning chain will be setting up shop at the Sacramento Center, located at the corner of Sacramento Drive and Richmond Highway. ZIPS will be located in an empty space between Planet Fitness and the Fresenius Kidney Care clinic.

It’s not clear what the timeframe for opening is; a message sent to ZIPS was not immediately returned. Construction permits for the ZIPS were just approved in mid-March.

A new laundromat is also coming to the Sacramento Center, according to a spokeswoman for KLNB Retail, which manages the shopping center. Permit applications list the laundromat’s name as Stars Laundromat.

When the two new businesses open, the Sacramento Center be at its highest occupancy in recent years. The shopping center, which includes a number of non-commercial renters, has struggled in the past to find and keep tenants.  But a Verizon Wireless store opened there in late 2015, and then a Planet Fitness moved in last April, helping fill two large empty spaces.

Other Sacramento Center tenants include Dollar Tree, Aaron’s, the United Community Ministries’ Back Porch Thrift Store and a community center run by Fairfax County.
