Police say woman impersonated employee, stole $40K worth of iPhones from Target

Police released these images of the suspect from store security cameras.
Fairfax County Police are asking for the public’s help to find a woman they say pretended to be a store employee in order to steal more than $40,000 worth of iPhones from the Target on Richmond Highway.
The incident happened Wednesday, March 15, police said. The woman “portrayed herself as an employee” and entered the store’s stock room, according to police. She then located the iPhones, put them in a box and walked out of the store.
Investigators do not think the suspect is affiliated with that particular Target. However, they said she did seem to know the store’s procedures, employee hours and the location of the phones.
The iPhone heist is the biggest commercial theft reported by Fairfax police so far this year. Earlier this month, $25,000 worth of firearms were stolen from a Chantilly gun store. Three suspects were later arrested in that case.
