West Potomac assistant principal reassigned to different school
A West Potomac assistant principal who went on administrative leave in early February has been reassigned to another school.
Michelle Lyttle, who along with ex-West Potomac principal Alex Case went on unscheduled leave in mid-February, now works at Kilmer Middle School in Vienna, Fairfax County Public Schools spokesman John Torre said Friday.
FCPS confirmed that Lyttle and Case were on leave on Feb. 13, although Torre declined to say exactly when their leave started. Case resigned as principal on February 24.
To date FCPS has given no explanation for either administrators’ absences. Case’s resignation letter, which was forwarded to the West Potomac community by FCPS, did not specify his reason for leaving.
Fox5 reported March 6 that the two administrators had combined for more than $11,000 in travel costs since July 2016. FCPS defended the travel, and told the station that Case and Lyttle had followed proper procedures and received approvals for the trips.
Dale Rumberger, a longtime teacher and principal in FCPS, is now interim principal at West Potomac. The search for a new principal is underway, with an informational meeting for parents and community members held March 20.
I cannot believe she is allowed to keep her job.
