Police blotter: Store worker slashed confronting thieves, sneaker deal turns into robbery
A store worker confronting two men stealing merchandise suffered minor cut wounds yesterday afternoon in the Groveton area, according to today’s Fairfax County Police blotter.
The incident happened around 4:50 p.m. in the 2800 block of Beacon Hill Road. Two men tried to leave a store — the police did not list the specific business — with unidentified merchandise without paying. When an employee tried to get the merchandise back, one of the assailants pulled a knife and cut him. The pair of robbers then took off in a car.
The victim was treated for his injuries at the scene and did not require a trip to the hospital, police said.
About a half hour later, another robbery occurred just down the road at the Wal Mart in the 6500 block of Richmond Highway.
A 20-year-old man had arranged to meet a person in the store’s parking lot to sell two pairs of shoes, according to police. While waiting for the transaction, another man walked up and pulled a gun on the victim. The robber took the shoes and fled on foot, police said.
The victim was not injured.
It does not appear the two incidents are related.
