‘Night of The Living Dead’ coming to West Potomac

If you’re so inclined, you can pay a little extra for a seat in the “splash zone” at West Potomac’s upcoming production of Night of the Living Dead. 

These seats give audience members a chance to get sprayed with blood and guts from the stage in what the school’s theater company calls  “The Ultimate 4D Experience.”

The ticket even comes with a free poncho.

It’s all part of  the extra effort going into Beyond the Page Theatre Company’s production of Night of the Living Dead, which will run from Jan. 26-Feb. 4 at West Potomac.

The school theater group put on the same play back in 2013, and it was popular enough that they’ve brought it back for a second run. This year’s show will feature video clips from that production, but will add the “splash zone” interaction to enhance the experience. 

Based on George Romero’s 1968 classic film — widely considered one of the most groundbreaking movies in the horror genre — Night of the Living Dead is the story of a group of people trapped in a farmhouse as flesh-eating zombies try to get in. The play will feature senior Kat Amato in the lead role of Barbara, and junior Jonathan Barger as Ben, who heroically works to keep the murderous undead at bay.

Night of the Living Dead will have a 10-show run from Jan. 26 to Feb. 4 at the school’s Kogelman Theater, which is located in the Springbank building at 6500 Quander Road. Tickets are $10, and $12 if you want to be in the splash zone. You can buy your ticket ahead of time at WestPotomacTheatre.org.
