Frye Road crosswalk

David Baines, 57, was killed near this crosswalk on Frye Road, not far from the intersection with Richmond Highway.

The Fairfax County Police announced today that a 52-year-old man has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a deadly crash last month on Frye Road.

Don K. Wong, a resident of the Woodlawn area, was issued a traffic summons today by detectives investigating the case, police said. He was not taken into custody, police said.

According to police, Wong was driving westbound in a Mercedes sedan on Frye Road on Dec. 1 around 5:45 p.m. The vehicle struck David D. Baines, 57. Baines, who lived in the 8400 block of Richmond Highway, died later that night of his injuries.

At the time of the accident police said Baines was in or near the crosswalk, which is about 100 feet west of Frye Road’s intersection with Richmond Highway. There is no crosswalk at the corner.
