A rundown of the transportation projects in progress on Richmond Highway

Sidewalk and storm drain work in progress along Richmond Highway earlier this month in the Woodlawn area.
If you’ve been driving on Richmond Highway during the day recently, particularly in the Woodlawn area, you’ve probably encountered some construction-related delays. From Huntington to Woodlawn, various projects are underway, while others are soon to begin.
Most of the work is related to intersection pedestrian improvements and sidewalk upgrades, as well as the construction of new bus shelters, according to the Fairfax Department of Transportation (FDOT). All projects already underway are scheduled to be completed by the spring; striping and paving work can only be done in weather above 50 degrees, according to FDOT.
