Fairfax County Police are searching for a suspect after a shooting was reported at the Sequoyah condominium complex in Hybla Valley this morning.

Residents reported a man chasing another man and firing a gun around 11:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Miramonte Place, according to Don Gotthardt, a police spokesman. Witnesses reported multiple shots were fired, but no victim was found on the scene.

Patrol officers, K9 units and the police helicopter searched the area, including portions of nearby Huntley Meadows park, for close to two hours, Gotthardt said. Eventually an officer found a man who had been “grazed” by a bullet. Police haven’t confirmed if the man was one of the individuals from the original report, but said they believe the original incident was isolated.

The gunshot victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Gotthardt said police identified a suspect after talking to witnesses at the scene, but do not have him in custody yet.

The shooting was less than a mile from where a man was stabbed last night on Audubon Avenue. A 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with that incident and charged with malicious wounding.
