Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber announces new officers, board

The Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce announced today that Jane Gandee, co-owner of the ServiceMaster Restore franchise on Fordson Road, has been selected as the Chamber’s 2017 chairman.

Gandee, who served as the president of the Chamber’s board of directors in 2016, has owned ServiceMaster along with her husband for more than 30 years. She also serves on the board of directors for The Salvation Army Alexandria Citadel and Rising Hope Mission Church in the Woodlawn area.

Gandee will replace outgoing president George Ksenics.

Replacing Gandee as president will be Scott Stroh III, the executive director of Gunston Hall. Stroh was the chamber’s vice president in 2016. Sonja Caison, owner of The Cleaning Authority, will serve as vice president; Paul Gaymon of the Gaymon Law Firm, will be board secretary, and Christopher S. Reddick of the National Capital Bank will serve as treasurer. 

Chamber officers are one-year positions elected by the Chamber board. Board members serve three-year terms, and are elected by Chamber membership. 

The Chamber’s 2017 board members will include:

  • Dr. D.R. Butler, Mount Vernon Rotary Club
  • Debbie Farson, HomeWise Referrals Inc.
  • Jason Hunt, Roy Rogers Restaurants
  • Stanley Koussis, Andrews Federal Credit Union
  • Josh Toth, Burke & Herbert Bank

Additionally, Cindy Hurrle of Mount Vernon Country Club and Mark Murray of Fort Belvoir Swim Team were Selected to fill unexpired terms on the Chamber board.

The Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce is headquartered on Richmond Highway. Founded in 1954, the Chamber has more than 300 businesses as members. Its stated mission is to advance the business and community interests within the trade area of the Mount Vernon and Lee Districts, and it often advocates positions on issues in the county. This past fall it fought for a “no” vote on the county’s meals tax referendum, which was eventually rejected by voters on election day.
