Peruvian chicken restaurant opens at former Shane’s Rib Shack location

Limon Pollo a la Brasa has opened its doors in the Mount Vernon Plaza shopping center.

Limon Pollo a la Brasa, a Peruvian chicken restaurant, has opened for business in the Mount Vernon Plaza shopping center at 7869 Richmond Highway.

The fast-casual restaurant had its first full day on Friday after opening its doors for a few hours on Thursday, according to an employee.

Limon Pollo a la Brasa replaces Shane’s Rib Shack, which closed in late 2015. Limon Pollo a la Brasa originally was going to be called “Chicken Rico,” which is what two other restaurants in the chain are called. It’s unclear why the name changed.

The other Chicken Ricos are located in Herndon and Leesburg, while the one other Limon Pollo a La Brasa is in Gaithersburg, Md. 

Limon’s quarter chicken meals start at $7.99, while a half chicken with two sides is $10.99. Meals on the “Peruvian Menu,” which offers various beef, steak, chicken and fish dishes, range from $9.99 to $13.99. In addition to its chicken and Peruvian-style offerings, Limon also offers burritos, burgers, subs and salads.
