Fabric Place Basement to open on Saturday at the Beacon Center

Fabric Place Basement

Fabric Place Basement opens in the spot formerly occupied by Hancock Fabrics in the Beacon Center on Route 1.

Fabric Place Basement will open its doors for business Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Beacon Center at 6660 Richmond Highway.

Fabric Place is a family-owned store based in Massachusetts that specializes in fabrics, trims, notions and yarns for sewers, quilters, decorators and designers. The Route 1 location is their first out-of-state store. It moves into a space previously occupied by Hancock Fabrics, which closed this summer after the national chain declared bankrupcy.

The Fabric Place owners have previously said they were drawn the Beacon Center location because of its proximatey to D.C., as well as the fact that the Hancock located there was among the most successful stores in that franchise.

A recording on the Frabric Place’s phone says that the store is still receieving inventory, and hopes to have its grand opening celebration in January.

Fabric Place will be open seven days a week; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10-8 on Fridays and Saturdays, and 12-6 p.m. on Sundays
