Woman dies from injuries 12 days after boyfriend allegedly set her on fire

Lewis Reeder

Lewis Reeder is accused of setting Delores Williams on fire on Nov. 19. Williams died from her injuries on Dec. 1.

UPDATE 8:01 p.m.: Fairfax Police announced Thursday night that Lewis Reeder was captured earlier today in Richmond. We will update as more information comes in.

Delores Williams, 64, died overnight from injuries suffered Nov. 19 after her boyfriend allegedly set her on fire, the Fairfax County Police announced today.

Williams had been in critical condition at Medstar Washington Hospital since her boyfriend, Lewis Reeder, allegedly set her on fire during an early-morning argument at their home at 4911 Keeler Court in the Woodlawn area.

Reeder fled after the incident and has not been located. Police say he drives a green 2001 Ford Taurus that may have Virginia license plates VPW1915.

A neighbor who did not wish to be identified said police had previously been to the home that Williams and Reeder shared. According to public records, Reeder has at least two previous arrests for domestic violence-related incidents. In July of 2015 he was charged in Fairfax County, but the case never went to trial, according to the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court records division. His other previous arrest was in South Carolina; it’s unclear how that case was resolved.

Williams was a graduate of Groveton High School, according to her Facebook page. She had lived in the home on Keeler Court since 2009. The day after the fire, neighbors described her as a kind woman who was known most of her friends and family simply as “Sweetie.”
