The All-Conference 7 football teams have been announced, and six West Potomac players and one Mount Vernon player were among those selected for the first team.
Leading the way for West Potomac was senior Brandan Lisenby, a candidate for the conference player of the year who was selected to the first team as a wide receiver. Lisenby finished with 39 catches for 925 yards and 14 touchdowns. Lisenby also had two rushing touchdowns.
Mount Vernon junior Darrien Newton made the first team as an all-purpose offensive player after helping leading the Majors to their best season in years. Despite only playing in eight full games, Newton finished the regular season with 57 receptions for 818 yards and 9 TDs. He also had 545 yards rushing for another 3 touchdowns.
Senior linebacker Da’Jon Bellfield and senior safety Patrick Aitken both made the first team for West Potomac. Both helped lead a hard-hitting defense that surrendered only 17 points per game while facing some of the most explosive offenses in the area.
Three underclassmen made the first team for West Potomac on the offensive side of the ball. Junior running back Daiimon Cleveland led the Wolverines with 810 yards rushing, while junior tight end Zach Monson was a physical blocker who averaged 19 yards per catch. Offensive lineman Bailey Iboleon also received first-team honors for his blocking that helped the Wolverine offense finish with more than 3,000 total yards.
The Patriot District is made up of schools in Virginia’s 6A classification, which is for the highest-enrollment schools in state. The Patriot is arguably the toughest district in Fairfax County, with six of its members making the 6A North playoffs, including top-ranked Lake Braddock.
Lamont Atkins, a running back and linebacker for Lake Braddock, was the district player of the year on both offense and defense.
