Police blotter: Burglar tries for cash, leaves with only cigarettes

BP station

Someone broke into this gas station after hours looking for cash, but found an empty register.

A burglar broke into an area gas station last week, but found a surprise when he apparently tried to force open the cash register: it was empty.

So in lieu of cash, the thief allegedly took only some cigarettes from the BP station at 5700 Telegraph Road in the Huntington area, according to the Fairfax County Police blotter.
