Man seen committing lewd act near children at Lee District Park

An area mom, her 8-year-old daughter and another young girl witnessed a man committing a lewd act near an outdoor restroom at Lee District Park last week.

The woman, who requested to remain anonymous to protect her child’s privacy, called police after the incident, which happened near the soccer fields.

The incident happened after she arrived at the park to pick her daughter up from soccer practice around 7:45 p.m. She saw her daughter and another girl walking to the outdoor restroom together. The mom got out of her car and followed the girls to the restroom. As she waited for them to come out, she heard one of them ask “who is that?” At that point the mom turned the corner and saw the man alone in another nearby field, facing the bathroom entrance.

“It looked like he was shaking something in his pocket,” the woman said.

Upon being noticed, the man fled to his car and quickly drove away, the witness said. Because it was nearly dark, she was unable to see the make of the vehicle, just that it was a two-door hatchback with a spoiler. She described the man as having a shaved head.

“He bolted for his car,” the witness said.

Fairfax County Police confirmed that the incident was reported to them, but said they were unable to locate a suspect. They did not respond to a question about whether there had been similar incidents in the area. However, a crime tracking tool used by the county does not show any crimes of that nature happening near the park in the last six months.

“It’s really upsetting,” the woman said, adding that she informed the soccer league and the manager of the park about the incident. “And I don’t want to think about the fact that, if I gotten there five minutes later … “
