Police blotter: Two car washes on Route 1 burglarized, man held up by BB-gun wielding robbers

Car washes a few blocks from each other on Richmond Highway were burglarized last week on back-to-back nights, according to Monday’s police blotter.

Mount Vernon Car Wash and Detailing, located at 8149 Richmond Highway, was broken into around 11 p.m. on Nov. 24. Police say someone forced their way in through a window and took an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving.

A night later, police say someone forced open a window at Mr. Kleen Car Wash and Detailing Center at 8000 Richmond Highway around 8:15 p.m. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the shop. 

Man robbed of hat

Two men pulled a weapon and robbed a man walking near the intersection of North Kings Highway and Fairhaven Avenue around 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 23, police reported. The robbers approached the man and threatened him with what police believe was an Airsoft BB gun, then took the man’s hat. The assailants fled in a gray Mitsubishi SUV, according to police. The victim was not injured. 

Other incidents from over the Thanksgiving holiday in the Mount Vernon Police District, as reported by police:

Burglary: 2800 block of Fairhaven Avenue, between 11:30 p.m. Nov. 26 and 3:42 a.m. Nov. 27. Investigation determined a home was burglarized and electronics were reported missing. There were no signs of forced entry.
