Wine & Design art studio celebrating grand opening

Wine & Design is located in the Belle View Shopping Center.

A local art studio is throwing its grand opening celebration with a weeklong slate of special events.

Wine & Design is the first “sip and paint” studio of its kind in the Route 1 area. The studio hosts classes where a professional artist guides you through a painting as you enjoy a glass of wine or a beer. Wine & Design hosts events for various types of groups, including birthday parties, office get-togethers, baby showers, bachelorette parties, and also has classes for kids through its Art Buzz Kids program.

Located in the Belle View Shopping Center at 1506D Belle View Boulevard, the Alexandria Wine & Design is the franchise’s first location in Northern Virginia. It’s owned by friends Rachel Bell and Camille Herrera, who both live in the Belle Haven area.

Bell and Herrera opened the business in Oct. 2015, throwing classes at restaurants and going to people’s homes. In March they signed a lease for the Belle View location, and in July had their soft opening.

4-7 p.m.
$5 class, complimentary wine, hors d’oeuvres and class giveaways

12-8 p.m.
$20 class, complimentary wine, giveaways and free class raffles

BYOBF (Bring Your Own Best Friend) Party
7-9 p.m.
BOGO class for $30 includes complimentary wine
