Police: Traffic stop leads to weapons, drug charges
Three people were arrested on weapons and drug charges during a traffic stop in the Huntington area on Thursday, police announced today.
The incident started around 4 p.m. when a car was pulled over for an unspecified traffic violation in the 6000 block of Richmond Highway, police said. The driver allegedly provided police with false identification and had outstanding warrants from another jurisdiction.
During a search of the car police found two firearms and narcotics, police said. One of the guns was allegedly stolen from out of state.
The driver, a 29-year-old Maryland man, was charged with driving on a suspended license, providing false identity to law enforcement, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while possessing a schedule I/II narcotic, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a schedule I/II narcotic, possession with the intent to distribute a schedule III narcotic, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and three counts of possession with the intent to distribute a schedule I/II narcotic.
Two passengers in the car were also arrested:
- A 24-year-old Maryland woman was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession with the intent to distribute a schedule III narcotic, and two counts of possession with the intent to distribute a schedule I/II narcotic.
- A 30-year-old Maryland man, was charged with possession of marijuana.
A third passenger was released without charges.
