Monday notes: Info on pedestrian killed in August, football update, road work

The Mount Vernon Marching Majors perform at halftime of Friday night’s football game against South County. The gridiron Majors fell 56-13 to the Stallions.
An article in Sunday’s Washington Post provided new details about the man killed last month in a crash on Richmond Highway.
Aaron Nelson McCullough, 56, was killed a little after 6 a.m. on Aug. 30 when an SUV struck him in the southbound lanes of Richmond Highway. Little information on McCullough was released after the crash, and police only said that he lived at “no fixed address.”
The Post article, which highlights the lives of pedestrians killed recently in the D.C. area, said McCullough lived near Route 1 and was killed walking to the bus stop for work:
McCullough, 56, served honorably in the Army, his brother said. He could talk with anyone and meticulously studied up on presidential elections.
But Carl McCullough also said his brother struggled with drugs and alcohol for decades.
…
Carl McCullough said the incident occurred about eight blocks from his brother’s home, where he lived alone, and as he was crossing the road to catch a bus to work at Blue & White Carry Out. He was divorced and is survived by a daughter.
No charges were filed against the driver, who stayed on the scene after the incident.
West Potomac keeps rolling
West Potomac’s football team won its third game in a row Friday night, beating Annandale 46-21 on the road. The win improves the Wolverine record to 6-1 (4-1 Patriot District).
West Potomac was led by senior wide receiver Brandan Lisenby, who caught six balls for 209 yards and three touchdowns. Lisenby followed up the big performance by announcing his college choice on Twitter on Saturday, picking St. Francis in Pennsylvania:

In other local football action, Hayfield handily beat Langley 42-21 in a Liberty District showdown. Hayfield is now 6-1 on the season, and is still unbeaten in the Liberty District. This Friday they’ll host Yorktown at 7 p.m.
Both Mount Vernon and Edison lost in blowouts on Friday. Mount Vernon (4-3, 1-3 Patriot) fell behind quickly and never managed to slow down South County’s powerful offense in a 56-13 loss. Meanwhile, Edison fell to 1-6 on the year with a 41-6 road loss to Tuscarora.
