Police blotter: Man arrested after attempted abduction in Hybla Valley
Police arrested a Fairfax County man for allegedly trying to abduct a woman in the Hybla Valley area yesterday afternoon.
The 20-year-old suspect allegedly grabbed the woman and tried pulling her toward a wooded area behind the 2600 block of Arlington Drive as she was loading cleaning supplies into a cart, according to police. The woman resisted and the suspect fled. She was not injured.
The suspect was located short distance away after police responded with K9 units and a helicopter. The victim positively identified him, according to police.
The suspect, who police say lives on Grumman Place not far from the alleged incident, is charged with felony attempted abduction and misdemeanor assault.
Fugitive arrested
The Fairfax Police tweeted this morning that a murder suspect from South Carolina was arrested in the area of Arlington Drive and Richmond Highway. No other information was available and a message left with a public affairs officer was not immediately returned.
