Video: Police save man choking at Subway in Hybla Valley

The Fairfax County Police released a video today showing two officers coming to the aid of a man choking inside a Subway in Hybla Valley.

Officers Mulhern and Weaver, whose first names were not released, were eating around 11 a.m. yesterday in the Subway at 7868 Richmond Highway, according to police. A man, whose name was not released, is seen on the video approaching the two officers. They immediately get up from their meal to help, with Mulhern walking the man to a table to quickly delivering back blows followed by abdominal thrusts (the Heimlich maneuver).

After less than 20 seconds, the incident was over. The man is seen thanking the officers on the video before everyone appears to return to their seats.

“Due to the officers’ quick actions, the man’s airway was cleared and all were able to finish enjoying their $5 footlongs,” police said.
