A two-alarm fire on Memorial Day caused an estimated $60,000 in damage to a house in the Vantage neighborhood off of South Kings Highway, the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department said in a news release.

Firefighters responded to the fire in the 4300 block of Rock Creek Road around 4:15 on Monday and began fighting the blaze in the basement. A second alarm was called in as the fire spread to the second floor and started weakening the structure, according to the release, which said that more than 60 firefighters ended up responding to the blaze.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire. Three adults and two juveniles were displaced and are getting assistance from the Red Cross, the fire department said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family, raising more than $2,500 in two days. According to the information on the page, nothing from the home is salvageable and the family expects to be displaced for 4-6 months.

The cause of the fire is believed to “an electrical event,” according to the fire department.
