Police blotter: 7-Eleven clerk pistol-whipped during robbery
A clerk at a 7-Eleven in the Mount Vernon area was hospitalized early this morning after being pistol-whipped during a robbery, according to the Fairfax County police.
The incident occurred a little before 4 a.m. at a 7-Eleven located at 5638 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, just east of Route 1. According to police, two robbers entered the store and assaulted the clerk with a gun before leaving with an unspecified amount of cash. The clerk’s injuries were described by police as non life-threatening.
7-Eleven stores in the Richmond Highway corridor have been a frequent target of armed holdups during the past year. Stores on North Kings Highway, Lockheed Boulevard and Fairhaven Avenue were all hit over the span of 10 days last August and September. The same 7-Eleven on North Kings Highways was held up again last month, but the assailant left before leaving with any cash, according to police. In February a 7-Eleven on Russell Road was robbed.
