Fort Hunt boys win 8th grade county basketball championship

The Fort Hunt 8th grade boys basketball team won the Fairfax County Youth Basketball Division 2 Championship on March 10, beating Manassas Park 58-43 at the James Lee Recreation Center in Falls Church.

Fort Hunt’s Aiden McClanahan was named MVP of the championship game.

Fort Hunt finished the season with a 14-2 record.

“Both on and off the court this was an exceptional group of boys, who were successful due to their character, determination and teamwork,” head coach Pat McClanahan said. “It was a very exciting season for the players and families, and we were proud to represent the Fort Hunt community on the county level.”

Three Fort Hunt players were named to the Division 2 All-League team:

  • Alex Catanzaro
  • Carter Lawrence
