The Fairfax County Police are asking for the public’s help locating a missing teenage girl from the Richmond Highway area, but say there is no evidence that she is in danger.

Jholie Moussa, 16, has been missing since Friday afternoon. She was last seen leaving her home in the 4200 block of Sonia Court (see map) in the Mount Zephyr area.

Police said in a Monday night press release that because Moussa left her home voluntarily, she has been classified as a runaway juvenile. She has been entered as such in the National Crime Information Center database, the police said.

However, the police did point out that they have been investigating the case and have met with the family a number of times.

“Since Saturday, our officers and detectives have been to the home four times and spoken with the family on numerous occasions by phone,” the police said in the press release. “Detectives believe that Moussa left her home voluntarily. Based on the facts of the case there is nothing that indicates that Moussa is in any danger.”

Moussa’s mom said Sunday she believes her daughter may have gone to Norfolk, Va., to a party, based on Snapchat messages sent prior to leaving her home on Friday. Moussa’s phone went dead early Saturday morning, according to her mom.

New details on Moussa’s disappearance were reported by WUSA9 on Monday, including a mysterious call to Moussa’s phone from a 12-year-old neighbor’s phone shortly after Moussa left her home. Moussa’s father told WUSA9 that the boy said “a strange man” asked to use his phone to make a phone call.
