An 18-year-old man is in stable condition after a shooting Thursday afternoon in the Hybla Valley area.

Police responded to a call around 5 p.m. that gunshots had been heard and that a group of men, including one who appeared to be injured, were seen getting into a car in the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue, according to a police spokeswoman. Officers were able to locate the vehicle not far from the scene, and the victim was transported to the hospital.

The victim is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The investigation of the shooting is ongoing, and no arrests have been made so far. The spokeswoman said police will try to interview the victim today. Investigators do not think the shooting was random.

The shooting drew a large response from officers, including the FCPD helicopter and K9 units. Photos shared on Twitter show that part of Sherwood Hall Lane, located on the other side of Richmond Highway from Janna Lee Avenue, was closed down as part of the large perimeter set up by police.

The incident marks at least the third shooting in the Richmond Highway area so far this year. In January, a 14-year-old boy was shot in the South Kings Highway area; no arrests have been made in the case. Last month a man was arrested for a daytime shooting near the Hybla Valley Walmart. Nobody was injured in that incident.
