Police blotter: Man pulls knife during Aldi robbery

Police responded to an armed robbery at the Aldi at 8256 Richmond Highway on Feb. 11.

A shoplifter pulled a knife on a grocery story employee Saturday night at a Route 1 grocery store, according to today’s Fairfax County Police blotter.

The incident happened around 6:35 p.m. at the Aldi Food Market at 8256 Richmond Highway. Police say an approximately 40-50-year-old man walked out of the store without paying for unspecified merchandise. A 22-year-old employee tried to stop the man, but the suspect pulled knife and then ran off to a nearby neighborhood, according to police.

No injuries were reported.

Warrant Service/Narcotics arrest: 8700 block of Richmond Highway (2/9): Lavonte Hamilton, 19, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin during a traffic stop. A passenger,  26-year-old Moises Molina, had five outstanding warrants on file and was taken into custody so the warrants could be served. Both men were taken to the Adult Detention Center.
