The study will focus on intersections between the City of Alexandria and George Washington’s Mount Vernon. During the upcoming public engagement process, the NPS and FHWA will share recently compiled safety data from the south parkway and ask people to share their concerns or ideas about how to improve safety while protecting the parkway’s scenic appearance and historic character.
The Fairfax County Park Authority will begin a master plan revision at Clermont Park. This planning process will help guide the future of this well-loved park and includes the opportunity for public input. Members of the public are invited to attend a public information meeting held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Franconia Government Center, located at 6121 Franconia Road, Alexandria, VA.
The Park Authority will provide a background presentation, an overview of current conditions, and information about the park master planning process. The agency would like to gather input from residents and park users on adding lights on two diamond fields at Clermont Park, located at 4100 Franconia Road in Alexandria.

Get started birding with this introductory program at Huntley Meadows Park – a local haven for birdwatchers. Learn about the park’s birds and gain some basic identification skills. The program for participants age 12 to adult runs from 8 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2019. It begins with an indoor discussion, followed by some birdwatching. The cost is $12 per person. Children age 12 to 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
