Installing car seats for babies and children can be difficult, but we all want our children to travel safely. That’s why district stations across the county host free Car Seat Safety and Install events throughout the year! You will learn how you can ensure your car seat is properly installed to keep your child as safe as possible.
In preparation for your appointment, you should install the seat in your vehicle using the instructions that came with the car seat. Trained officers will review the car seat instructions and car owner’s manual to be certain that they are being followed as they should. All events are held in the parking lot of that district station.

Kick off Summer by joining the officers of the Mount Vernon District Station for a family friendly Police Department Community Day on Saturday, June 22, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. Enjoy the day by taking this unique opportunity to get a closer look at the police vehicle fleet, as well as police officer tools and uniforms. Attendees will see specialty unit demos, such as the SWAT team, police K9, and motors (the motorcycle unit). To top it all off, the police helicopter will be making a special appearance.
The Little Gym of Alexandria will be joining in on the fun with music and games for all to enjoy. To cool off, popsicles will be provided. Questions are encouraged at the event and the officers look forward to seeing everyone to have fun with the community they serve! Join us on Saturday, June 29th, when Workhouse Fireworks race skyward and illuminate the Northern Virginia landscape in an expertly-choreographed display of pyrotechnic light and thunder.
Launched from our historic, 55-acre campus, the region’s largest pre-Independence Day fireworks show celebrates the history of this amazing nation and honors the courage and sacrifice that have made America a beacon of hope and freedom around the world. A nearly 30-minute fireworks show follows our Rizer Pavilion musical performance by the US NAVY BAND SEA CHANTERS and will dazzle visitors with an incredible display of vibrant colors, bright lights, and ground-shaking explosions.
General admission to Workhouse Fireworks is free; parking* is $25 per car or $30 cash only at the Workhouse if spaces are available after pre-sales. Our parking lot sells out each year, so buy early to avoid disappointment. All vehicles will enter the Workhouse via eastbound Workhouse Road. Please note that refunds will only be provided should the event be cancelled.
