Police blotter: Juvenile hits officer, is hit with more charges

A juvenile being arrested for an outstanding warrant found himself in more trouble after police say he elbowed an officer and tried to run away, according to Tuesday’s Fairfax County Police blotter.

The incident happened at the Cooper Center at 8723 Cooper Road (see map) around 9 p.m. on Monday. Police say they received information that the juvenile was at the center, located him and attempted to make an arrest. At that point the youth allegedly elbowed an officer and took off running, but was quickly caught, according to police.

The juvenile now faces charges of resisting arrest and assault on a law enforcement officers, in addition to the previous warrant. Police did not say what the previous warrant was for.

Other incidents from the Mount Vernon police district reported in Tuesday’s blotter:

Burglary: Around 9:45 a.m., a resident in 4900 block of Lawrence Street  (see map) called police after finding a window in their house open. When officers arrived, they apprehended a boy running out of the home.

Larceny: 2900 block of Arlington Drive, merchandise from business
Larceny: 6800 block of Richmond Highway, cash from business
Larceny: 7600 block of Richmond Highway, merchandise from business

Note: An incident Monday afternoon at the Huntington Creek Apartments on Huntington Avenue was not included in the blotter. A spokeswoman for the FCPD would only say that the incident involved a man “in crisis,” and that he is now OK and there was no threat to public safety.
