Police blotter: Juvenile arrested after stolen vehicle spotted, chased on Route 1

A 16-year-old was arrested Thursday afternoon after a short police chase on Richmond Highway, according to Friday’s Fairfax County Police blotter.

Officers saw the vehicle around 4:40 p.m. in the 8400 block of Richmond Highway (see map). A chase then ensued and the driver of the stolen vehicle jumped from it while it was moving and then ran away on foot, police said. Officers apprehended the suspect a short time later, police said.

Because the suspect is a juvenile, his name was not released. Police also said another juvenile was determined to be involved in stealing the vehicle, but did not provide additional details.

No injuries were reported.
