An SUV drove through the front doors of the Clean Smart dry cleaners in the Penn Daw area Saturday afternoon, startling employees but fortunately causing no injuries.

The crash happened shortly before 3:15 p.m. when the driver’s foot slipped and hit the gas pedal, according to Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Reem Awad. The vehicle destroyed the entrance of Clean Smart, located at 6228 Richmond Highway, but stopped before hitting the counter inside the store.

No charges were filed against the driver, according to Awad.

Clean Smart owner Tariq Ahmed described the incident as “scary” and said a customer had just exited the store prior to the crash.

Ahmed said the store remained open after the crash by using the back door to allow customers to pick up their clothes.
