Body of missing 16-year-old girl found at Woodlawn Park
Jholie Moussa, 16, was found Friday morning under leaves and brush at Woodlawn Park.
Police have identified the body found this morning in Woodlawn Park as 16-year-old Jholie Moussa, who had been missing since Jan. 12.
Police said Moussa’s body was discovered by officers around 11 a.m. near a path in the park, which is located in between Pole Road and Manor Drive in the Woodlawn neighborhood (see map). The body was found near tennis courts in the park and was mostly concealed by leaves and brush, police said.
Moussa was identified by her appearance, include a distinctive tattoo, police said.
Police said investigative leads led them to the park, which is less than a mile from Moussa’s home on Sonia Court in the Mount Zephyr area. They this is the second time that it has been searched, police said.
“Since Moussa was reported missing January 13, we have been working tirelessly.” police said in a statement. “Detectives have conducted numerous interviews and continue to pursue leads in this case.”
Homicide investigators are now handling the case, police said.
Moussa, a 10th grader at Mount Vernon High School, left her home on the afternoon of Jan. 12 and was not seen or heard from again by her family. She was reported missing the next day, and police characterized her as a runaway, initially saying they did have evidence that Moussa was in danger.
On Jan. 17, the FBI began assisting the police in trying to locate Moussa.
When I was a teen ager, this park was home to all the teens, every waking moment we had was spent there, never could a body have been there dor any link of time with out us knowing this
In even earlier years we used to cross through here when leaving Woodlawn Elementary via the back of the ball field. This park is basically connected to the elementary school. Makes this even more disturbing.
I was hoping this would have a better ending. I look forward to the FBI finding who did this.
