Police blotter: Four burglaries in area over the weekend

Two residences and two businesses in the Route 1 area were burglarized over the weekend, according to Monday’s Fairfax County Police blotter.

The first burglary happened between 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday in the Gum Springs neighborhood. Money and property were taken from a home in the 8100 block of Fordson Road (see map).

Later on Sunday jewelry was taken from a home in the Stratford Landing neighborhood. The daytime incident happened in 8400 block of Riverside Road (see map) between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Police did not say the value of the jewelry taken.

Two businesses in the Hybla Valley area were broken into within about an hour from each other Sunday morning, police said. Someone entered the Aquatic Adventures Scuba Academy in the Mount Vernon Plaza shopping center (see map) around 6:30 a.m. and took property.

Around 7 a.m., someone broke into a nearby business in the 7800 block of Richmond Highway (see map) and took property and change. Police did not name the second business.
