A man was robbed at gunpoint by two assailants Thursday night in the Hybla Valley area, not far from where two similar armed robberies took place last week.

The incident last night happened around 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of Lockheed Boulevard and Groveton Gardens Road. Two men, one with a gun drawn, walked up to the victim, police said. The assailant with the gun hit the victim in the head, and then took “personal items” from the victim while he was on the ground, according to police. The robbers then fled on foot.

Police searched the area, including with the Fairfax1 helicopter and K9 units, but were unable to locate the suspects.

Police did not say if the victim needed medical treatment.

Last Wednesday, two similar armed robberies happened within blocks of last night’s incident. Each of those robberies — which occurred approximately 10 minutes apart — involved two assailants and happened near the apartment complexes located on Lockheed Boulevard.

Last week’s armed robberies also involved a firearm, although in one instance both assailants drew weapons. And in all three of the robberies, one of the suspects is described as a black man approximately 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 6 inches tall and 25-30 years old. The second suspect in all the cases is also said to be a black male, although no detailed physical description of the second suspect was released in Thursday’s incident.

A police spokeswoman could not confirm if the three robberies were related, and said that all three are still being investigated.
