Police blotter: Stolen handgun, ammo recovered after traffic stop

A Woodbridge man is facing multiple charges after he was allegedly caught with a stolen handgun and illegal drugs during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon on Richmond Highway, according to today’s police blotter.

Police say they smelled an odor of marijuana after pulling over Odell Lewis, 45, in the 8500 block of Richmond Highway around 4:45 p.m. Lewis allegedly began to struggle with officers after exiting the car before eventually being restrained in handcuffs.

When police searched Lewis’s Toyota sedan, they said they found the drugs and a stolen handgun. Lewis was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana, obstruction of justice, and possession of stolen property.
