Weekend police blotter: Arrests made after carjacking, 7-Eleven robbery
Two sets of assailants didn’t get far after allegedly committing serious crimes in the Richmond Highway area this past weekend.
The first incident happened Saturday when two Maryland teens were arrested after allegedly robbing and carjacking a woman in the Penn Daw area.
John Williams, 19, and an unnamed 17 year old, both of District Heights, are accused of accosting a woman in the 3000 block of Furman Lane around 12:15 a.m. Saturday. The assailants allegedly grabbed the woman and pushed her to her knees before taking her keys and wallet.
Williams and the juvenile allegedly drove away with the woman’s vehicle but were captured later that night in the Lorton area by police K9 and helicopter units, a police spokeswoman said.
7-Eleven robbery ends in arrests
Two Washington D.C. men were arrested after a 7-Eleven robbery near the intersection of South Kings Highway and Telegraph Road early Sunday morning.
Police say Arvel Caldwell, 39, walked up to the counter of the store at 6946 South Kings Highway and pretended to be making a purchase. Caldwell allegedly jumped the counter after the clerk walked over, took money from the register before fleeing in a getaway car outside the store.
Caldwell and Ronald Carter, 56, the alleged getaway driver, were taken into custody in the 6100 block of The Parkway shortly after the robbery, according to police.
